Opening Day
Roberts Gallery · June 7, 2026
The museum opened on Sunday, June 7, Prince’s birthday, at Roberts Gallery, on the corner of Plymouth Avenue and Bernadette Anderson Way in North Minneapolis. Historian Kristen Zschomler marked the day with a free walking tour of the neighborhood where Prince grew up, her gift to the community. Brass Solidarity, the Minneapolis musical collective formed in 2021 in the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder, brought sonic joy to the street, helping us celebrate Prince’s birthday with spirit and solidarity. Throughout the afternoon we welcomed hundreds of visitors to the gallery to experience the art and stories of more than forty artists.
