Welcome to the Living Archive

The People’s Museum for Prince honors Prince Rogers Nelson through the art and stories of his audience. We believe an artist’s legacy lives not only in their work, but in the hearts of the people.

The living archive is the museum’s international collection. Here you will find personal and creative testimony from 75 artists, writers, poets, musicians, filmmakers and collectors who together created the museum’s 2026 edition in Minneapolis. New people and stories are on their way.

To begin your visit choose any image, and each page will lead you on through the tour.

Dear Prince

Last night I saw purple wildflowers dancing on the side of the road.

Seven minutes later I saw a man in a purple vest, hat, and scarf selling purple eggplant and cabbages at a farmer's market.
