Nothing Compares 2U

As I worked on it I felt the loss and beauty of him and his incredible talent. Using fabric from a Cherrywood Fabrics Prince challenge collection, Betsy Shannon recreated an iconic Prince photograph in multiple shades of purple, then hand-embellished it with approximately 15,000 tiny seed beads. The process took around 200 hours; each paisley alone required six to eight hours. She beaded with no planned diagram, working intuitively.

Betsy Shannon is a Minneapolis fiber artist with work hanging publicly in several locations. This piece was made in the years following Prince's death.
