An homage to Prince's 1986 film Under the Cherry Moon and the Parade album, this quilt was made with a specific person in mind: someone Suzanne Wint first met at a screening of the film in the year after Prince's death, whose dedication to building community around Prince's story is woven into every design choice. The pattern — Slashed Squares, using a slice-and-dice technique — is a structural play on the song Girls and Boys, and the coordinated chaos of the blocks reflects the contradictions of the film itself.
Hidden within: a deep purple substitution, fabric printed with purple cabbage (a nod to Christopher's insult to Mary), and glow-in-the-dark elements. The backing fabric bears an uncanny resemblance to the Parade tour drum kit.
