Community Day
Roberts Gallery · June 21, 2026
On Sunday, June 21, the museum celebrated Prince’s Northside roots. The day began with a tour of Prince’s North Minneapolis led by historian Kristen Zschomler, joined by Stephanie Carlson, Prince’s first crush, and classmates who gathered from near and far, their memories helping to fill in details of Prince’s early years. Back at the gallery, artist Tammy Ortegon of ColorWheel Gallery hosted a coloring party, and Terry Jackson, Prince’s neighbor and bandmate in Grand Central, shared his memories of “Skipper.” Neighbors stopped by, children posted drawings for Prince, and old school friends gathered around the table: a relaxed day of community.
