My Good Friend Prince
Sometimes It Snows in April

I remember very well when I first met Prince in 1985 at my friend Patrick's house. From the very beginning, I was fascinated by him, his music, his opinions, his depth, his passion, and above all, his empathy and honesty. Over the years, a deep friendship developed between us. He stood by me during difficult times in my life and brought me joy when things were going well. I celebrated with him and shared in his grief for example when he and Mayte lost their baby. Something similar happened to me, and I, too, remained childless. April 21, 2016. It snowed. He went. Was it a shame that our friendship had to end? No, because it didn't end; it will continue forever! I never met Prince in person, but attended “only" four of his concerts and heard his music all my life from the time when Patrick showed it to me when I was 13 years old. So he didn't know me personally, but he felt my friendship and that of thousands of other concertgoers at those concerts just as he felt our love over all the time. I'm sure many people feel the same way I do – those kind of cars don’t pass you every day! I wish you heaven! See you there sometime. Your friend, PINO
