Go Sagawa

In June 2026 Go Sagawa, lifelong fan, made a trip dreamed of for a very long time: Minneapolis, to pay his respects to Prince. It was the week of Celebration events, when people gather from around the world to commemorate the artist. Go was accompanied by his teenage son, Shoichiro. He shared this reflection:

Looking back on my trip to Minneapolis, what stays with me most is the tie between this pilgrimage for Prince and spending time with my son. This was our first trip together, just the two of us. We don’t usually talk much about music, so it was a pleasant surprise to see him develop an interest in Prince. Throughout the trip, I could see both the boy he still is and the young man he is becoming. One image I’ll never forget is the smile on his face as he happily ate a hamburger at Hen House Eatery shortly after we arrived in Minneapolis. On the same day, we visited Paisley Park for the first time. There, we struck up a conversation with beautiful twin sisters from Detroit who were devoted Prince fans. During our chat, they asked if we were brothers. Japanese people are often said to look younger than their age, so perhaps I looked as young as my son. But more than that, I felt proud to see how much he has grown up. In that moment, he looked more like my younger brother than my child.
