Growing up, I constantly heard from my family that 'you could never make it as an artist in Minnesota' — you had to move to New York or LA. I always thought to myself; Prince runs an international music machine from here. He could have lived anywhere but he never left the Twin Cities. Prince became my proof of purpose. Music, including Prince, has always played a role in my creative process. I started my artist's journey as a dancer. When I became disabled a few years ago, music brought me back to life and back to the life of an artist. The works selected for exhibit here are from that period and express how music drives me to create visually.
