I was 10 years old when Purple Rain arrived on the scene. I was immediately obsessed. A friend and I spent the summer memorizing the lyrics to each song and would put on living room concerts for our parents. We didn't understand what we were singing, but we knew we loved it. The mix of rock, pop, funk, and r&b were unlike anything before it. Later I found Prince's older music and continued to follow him throughout his career. No one could touch him. He was a musical genius.
