The morning of April 21st, 2016 I was listening to The Current and heard the news. Immediately I started getting calls and texts. They were all the same. Was I okay? Was I okay? Prince had always been there. Ever since I discovered him at 16 when my friend Elizabeth brought the For You album over and I heard Soft and Wet for the first time and became obsessed. My most treasured memory will always be January 21, 2016. The Piano and A Microphone concert at Paisley Park. So thankful and blessed to have been able to experience it. The feelings that I felt that morning on April 21st are also hard to put into words. Strangely, I didn't cry. It was a long time before I cried. I'm not sure why, maybe I was in shock. I cry easily now, especially every time I hear Purple Rain. The good thing that happened is we came together. We who loved Prince, we gathered on the street in front of First Avenue and the bands played and we danced and we remembered him. And in the weeks and months and years that followed we kept gathering and kept dancing and kept remembering as we will continue to do, I hope for a very long time to come. The photo book I share here are just some images of the months after April 21st, 2016 of the things I did to remember Prince including my 50th Birthday Prince Dance Party on 5/28/16, the highlight of that year.
